Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP)

The goal of EAP is forming a connEQcted, healthy relationship with a horse. By learning and experiencing healthy relationship principles, a client can take those skills into their everyday life. The model uses a team approach which includes a licensed mental health professional, an equine professional, and an equine partner to work with the client. The mental health professional focuses on the client while the equine professional observes the horse throughout the interaction with the client. This team approach is highly effective because many different nuances are observed and addressed in the therapy session giving a more personalized and relational therapeutic experience to the client.
